Privacy Policy

Personl (“Personl,” “we,” “us”) is a voice-first notes app: you capture a thought out loud, and Personl turns it into clean, organized notes. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, who processes it, and the choices you have — including how to delete your account and all of your data.
Information we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work for you:
- Voice recordings. When you record a note, the audio is captured so it can be turned into text.
- Photos and videos. Only the images or clips you choose to attach to a note.
- Note content. The transcripts, summaries, and other text that Personl generates from your recordings, plus any text you type or edit.
- Location (optional). If you grant location access, an approximate location is attached to a note to record where you captured it (for example, a café or neighborhood). You can decline or turn this off at any time in your device settings.
- Account information. The email address you use to create and sign in to your account.
- Push token. A device notification token, used only to let you know when your note has finished processing.
Personl does not include third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and does not collect your contacts, browsing history, or device identifiers for advertising.
How we use your information
- To transcribe your recordings into text and organize them into notes.
- To generate the app’s features on your content — such as summaries, suggested next steps, and its written reflections.
- To store and sync your notes so they are there when you return.
- To send you a notification when processing is complete.
- To operate, secure, and support the service.
How your data is processed and shared
To provide these features, your recordings and note content are sent over an encrypted connection to Personl’s server, which uses a small number of trusted service providers. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Your content is shared only with the providers below, solely to deliver the app to you:
- OpenAI — converts your voice recordings into text (speech-to-text).
- Anthropic — analyzes your note text to produce summaries and the app’s written features.
- Supabase — provides authentication, database, and file storage for your account and notes.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to your device.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Storage and retention
Your notes are stored in your account and kept until you delete them or delete your account. Voice recordings are treated as temporary: once a recording has been transcribed, the audio file is removed from our servers, and the resulting text is what is retained. Your data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Your choices and rights
- Delete a note. You can delete any individual note at any time from within the app.
- Delete your account. In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account together with your notes and associated data.
- Permissions. Microphone, camera, photos, and location access are all optional and controlled by you in your device’s settings; you can revoke any of them at any time.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.
Children
Personl is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
